Imagine this case scenario. You visited your friend who has Nintendo Wii and you played the best game ever. But, you don’t have this console. Should you invest and buy one? Actually no. If you have a computer running Windows OS or any other, common operating system you can play the same games using emulator and keyboard.
You will need emulator, obviously, you should download Wii games and start. Not a clever guide right. Well, the actual guide it below. This is just an intro.
- Start by downloading Dolphin Emulator
The first and the most important thing you will have to do is to download Dolphin Emulator. This is our example. You can find a lot of different emulators for this kind and you will probably find a few of them that look great or better said ideal. However, Dolphin Emulator is extremely easy to use, it comes with all desired functions and it can run on most computers. Once you have downloaded you can configure the controls, video settings and etc. if you are an absolute beginner, we recommend you not to configure any of these things. Simply load the game and start.
- Download ROMs
Here is an important thing. You can get an official disc of a game, insert it into a computer and open software called Rawdump 2.1. Load the disk and create a dump file into ISO file format. This has a few drawbacks. First, you need an actual game’s disc which isn’t very easy to find and there are a lot of issues you can encounter. If the disc is slightly scratched, you won’t be able to create the ISO file. You also need a lot of time to get the job done.
The solution is to simply download ROM files. These are games, as you may know already and they are completely free. Once downloading is complete you will have a full game ready to play as soon as possible. The best part is the fact you can download as many games as you like and play all of them if you want.
- Open ROM file
When you open the emulator you will see an open icon. Click on it and load the ROM file you want to load. The game will start instantly. Now you can play the game as long as you like.
If the computer is unable to meet the video requirements of the game, decrease the resolution and the refresh rate. If it is still slow and unplayable, make sure to decrease all graphics settings you see. This is a rare issue that will affect very old computers with obsolete processors and very little of RAM memory. New machines won’t cause this type of problem.
When you are done playing, close the emulator and continue using your PC. Repeat the steps when you want to play a game again and use the same processes. The last fact we will reveal is the ability to play GameCube games as well, using the same emulator. Other emulators may offer more features but they are more complicated to use.
Conclusion
Nintendo Wii has been with us since 2006 and it is one of the best consoles of all times. However, now you don’t need one. You have a PC and you can use it to play the games developed specifically for this console. It is so simple and so easy that you will need up to 10 minutes of your time. The next time you want to play a game, you will need 1 minute.
